Hybrid Programming Offered at the Portland Center

To propose a full program to be offered in hybrid format at the Portland Center, please email Shannon Riggs, Executive Director of Course Development and Learning Innovation for Ecampus. After working with Ecampus to develop your program, you'll submit a proposal via CIM.

If you are not developing a hybrid program for the Portland Center, use the workflow below.

Workflow

  • New programs go through the full program review workflow and receive final approval from the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) (diagram of the full workflow)
    • To help you track when your proposal may be reviewed, consult the meeting dates for the OSU Faculty Senate, OSU Board of Trustees, Statewide Provosts Council, and Higher Education Coordinating Commission.

Required Information

  • Early Alert form. Submit this form before you begin filling out the new program proposal.
  • A New Program proposal in CIM
  • Liaisons
    • At least three liaisons are required
      • A minimum of two Academic Liaisons must be from outside the college associated with the Originating Academic Unit.
      • The remaining liaisons can be from within the college but must be outside the Originating Academic Unit.
  • At least one letter of support from a contact external to OSU, such as appropriate faculty at another institution of higher education.
  • Budget narrative and tables (Budget Preparation InstructionsOSU Internal Budget Worksheet Form)
  • External review (graduate programs only). Refer to the HECC External Review of New Graduate Level Academic Programs for more information.

Approval Deadline

New program proposals must be fully approved by the end of week 6 of the term prior to when the program will be implemented. Program change proposals must be approved by May 1 for the changes to take effect the following catalog year. See the catalog year policy for details.

Advertising

New programs may be not advertised until they have been approved by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC). In the period after HECC approval and before NWCCU approval, programs may be advertised as "Submitted to NWCCU for review.” See the Advertising policy for details.

CPS Archive

The Curriculum Proposal System (CPS) archive contains program (major, minor, option, certificate) and course proposals submitted between 2001 and November 2019, with the exception of new program proposals submitted before 2010.
